Google To Tell You Where To Eat?
On Thursday 8th September 2011 Google announced it had acquired Zagat, the restaurant ratings publisher. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The move will enable Google to expand its local business listings into restaurant recommendations, reviews and more.
Marissa Mayer, vice president of local, maps and location services commented,
Zagat will be a cornerstone of our local offering.
There seems to be real synergy between Google Maps and Zagat services as Google focuses on localised services and the lucrative advertising deals with restaurants and businesses on a local level.
It will be interesting to see how the integration unfolds and we’ll keep you up to date with its progress on this blog in due course.
