When working with social media, you need to know your audience as well as the statistics if you want to create a successful marketing campaign. Most people believe that Instagram Stories are a waste of time as people don’t pay attention to them, however, this is far from the truth. Stories provide most people with the opportunity to reach a higher number of people. If you haven’t posted to your story in a while, people will receive a notification when you do, therefore, they can view your story straight away.

Be Consistent

A business profile is very different to your personal profile. Each piece of marketing you do is a reflection of your company so it’s important to ensure your Instagram profile has the same look and feel as your other social media accounts. Many businesses use the same filter on their Instagram posts, so that the overall feed has the same look.

By being consistent, you will maintain a professional vibe throughout. When uploading to your story make sure that you are using the same font, colour and filter. If you are using a template to create stories, then we recommend using the same template throughout. It helps form your image as a brand. So, when people view a story and don’t pay attention to who’s uploaded it, they will know it’s your company because of the similar features.

Adding Elements

Instagram now has a range of different elements that you can use. Some of these include polls, surveys, ratings and stickers. You should use these to your businesses advantage. Rather than always having to guess what your audience likes or are more likely to engage with, use these elements to gather research. Not only will you be getting what you need from this but you’ll be engaging in audience interaction. This is a great way to make your audience feel included in your business.

By adding your location, you’re expanding your stories’ reach. Your story will then be seen when someone is viewing that location as well as in the ‘Explore’ tab. You can also use the swipe up link on your stories so people can access your website faster.

Highlights Are Essential

Instagram stories only appear on your profile for 24 hours, unless you add them to a highlight. Highlights are a great way of arranging content. You can add as many highlights as you like. For example, on our Instagram page we have a different highlight for our services. In your highlight you can add up to 100 posts. These appear at the top of your profile, just below your bio. Therefore, they’re one of the first pieces of content to be noticed on your profile.

There are apps you can use to create story covers. Using these means that your profile will appear, professional, aesthetically pleasing and in keeping with your brand.

Instagram stories and highlights have become increasingly popular over the past few years and will continue to grow as time goes on. People are now posting around 500 million stories per day. Whereas, there are only 95 million (regular) posts uploaded per day. If most people are using Instagram stories, it tells us that this is where you’re more likely to find your audience.
