Google De-indexing Fixed

Google’s De-indexing Problem Fixed

Over the past couple of days, there have been many site and SEO owners reporting pages dropping out of Google’s search index. This problem was visible when using the site command in a browser and Google Search Console. Now, it has been reported that the technical issue has been fixed. Apparently, it was a technical issue at Google.

However, it has been said that they are not sure what the technical issue was exactly. For those who picked up on these issues, you should now see them back in Google’s index. Even though the issue is said to be fixed, there have been some reports of on-going de-indexing problems.

You’re able to check a specific URL on your website to see its status in the Google search index, using the URL inspection tool. It provides crawl, index and serving information about the page. You’ll see the last crawl date, the status and any crawling or indexing errors and the canonical URL for that page. This is all taken directly from the Google index. Not only this, but it will also show you if the page was successfully indexed and if there were any errors.

It’s important to keep up to date and care about these things. This is because, as site owners that we are at the mercy of engineering bugs, glitches and other “technical issues”. This gives us the incentive to routinely check Search Console reports to spot problems. This issue appears to have affected sites on April 4th and 5th. Sites should no longer be experiencing de-indexing problems as a result of this problem on Google’s end.
